When I first started making this card, my plan was to showcase the Songbird Builder Punch which is going on sale tomorrow for only $11, but as I got going I only used the punch for one of the three birds on the card. But, it’s still a great price on the punch and the card is a fun baby card.
So the card starts with a top fold card base that is 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″. Next is a Scalloped Contours Die cut of Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper.
The bird on the left is created using the punch and is stamped with Azure Afternoon, Tuxedo Black and Crushed Curry inks. The bird on the right is stamped and then fussy cut. Its colors are Flirty Flamingo, Tuxedo Black and Crushed Curry. The branch and leaves are stamped on Basic White paper and then fussy cut. The colors are Pecan Pie and Parakeet Party.
The little wooden sign is stamped on Basic White paper with Smoky Slate ink. The ‘rope’ is Linen Thread knotted on both ends and adhered to the sign with Glue Dots which have been rolled into balls. Both greetings are stamped with Tuxedo Black ink.
When the card is opened the baby bird pops up and is sitting in the nest. The pop up support is a 1″ x 7″ strip that is scored at 2″, 3″, 5″, and 6″ and is then adhered to itself and then to both the inside of the card front and back. Both the baby bird and the nest are stamped on Basic White paper. The nest is stamped with Pecan Pie and then more ink is added with a Blending Brush. The baby is stamped with Pool Party ink, with Tuxedo Black eyes, and Lemon Lolly beak. Both of these images are fussy cut. I wanted to add a ‘It’s a Boy’ greeting but don’t have any here in Florida, so will finish it when I get back to Minnesota.
To finish off the envelope a matching baby bird was stamped on the front corner and a scrap of Lighter Than Air DSP was added to the back flap.
