For today’s #DOswts369 Challenge, I decided to play with a piece of the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration Catalog. This paper comes in a pack of 12 sheets that are 12″ x 12″. There are 4 sheets each of 3 double sided designs giving 6 choices of designs. The paper is in Black and White tones and is perfect for coloring.
The Beautifully Penned paper was cut to a 3″ square and the flowers were colored with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend Markers. The stems and leaves were slightly brushed with Old Olive (also Stampin’ Blends) and the background was colored with a So Saffron Blend. The So Saffron color was just randomly squiggled around the flowers, not completely covering the white background but just giving a hint of yellow coloring.
This time, I followed the layout closely and didn’t go rogue.
After the Beautifully Penned Designer Paper was colored it was sliced up, oh my! The first cut was 1/2″, the next 1″, then another 1″ slice was cut leaving another 1/2″ strip. They were layered over a 2 1/2″ x 4″ piece of Balmy Blue echoing the flower color.
The front of the card base is embossed with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. The greeting from the Color & Contour stamp set is one of my favorites and is stamped with Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Old Olive and then die cut with one of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. To add just a bit of dazzle, a second die cut was done with the same die from the Be Dazzling Sale-a-bration paper that can be found front and center on page 3 of the Sale-a-bration catalog.
Everything was adhered flat to the card using Stampin’ Seal Tape Runner. BUT, as an after thought, (don’t you hate those after thoughts?) I wish that the slices of Beautifully Penned paper had been popped up with dimensionals. Wouldn’t that give the card an extra WOW? I’m anxious to see if any of the other STARS popped up their sliced pieces.
