Treasure!

So…I found some buried treasure yesterday when cleaning my stamp room. A whole packet of card kits that I won at a demonstrator event run by Dawn Olchefski. I have no idea what year they are from, or what the cards were originally supposed to look like but boy did I fun making them with the Rhino Ready and Charming Sentiments stamp sets. I’m pretty sure that the original stamp sets were florals.

This was my favorite. I love this fun fold layout. Are you familiar with the Rhino Ready stamp set? It’s one of the online exclusives, and a must have for critter lovers like me.

The rhino was stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla that was included in the kit, and colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers. The embossing was already done. The greeting was stamped on the left side with Versamark ink for a light pattern.

Here you can see how the card is put together with an 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ base scored at 5 1/2″ and an additional layer that is 8 1/2″ x 3″ scored at 41/4″.

These pretty designer papers sure don’t photograph well. They are so gorgeous! The foils really shine. This simple greeting from the Rhino Ready set worked well with this design.

I have a feeling that I totally messed up this layout. I used a mask to make the rhino stand out in front of the grass and left him uncolored for a quick and simple card.

I know that this is going to sound crazy but Crumb Cake is one of my favorite cardstock colors. This is my second favorite card of this bunch. Do you remember the Candy Dots that I used on the bottom right? These were another fun find in my cleaning adventure.

This card seemed really feminine with the pretty flower strip so I gave this rhino some pretty pink nails for a touch of humor.

The card base is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/5″ scored at 2 3/4″ and 7″.

This card got another simple greeting from the Rhino Ready set, that is simple and heartfelt. By using just parts of a stamp set a whole new feel can be achieved.

What a fun idea! Emboss some die cuts and use pretty designer paper for others.

For this final card, I pulled in the Charming Sentiments and Sentimental Silhouettes Dies. There was actually a piece of gold foil paper in this kit but I decided to leave the card plain and simple.

I hope that these cards give you some inspiration, I know that I sure enjoyed finding this buried treasure.
