Creating Patterned Paper

Some stamp sets just beg to be used to create whole scenes for background designs. The Beauty of the Deep stamp set is one of those!

For this series of three cards a half sheet of Basic White paper (11″ x 4 1/4″) was used to create the backgrounds. We started with the largest plant image using Lemon Lime Twist ink, stamping that image 4 or 5 times. Next, the tall plant was stamped 8 times with Lost Lagoon ink, with two images stamped together. The coral image was stamped with Calypso Coral ink. Filling in the large spaces. The little sea urchins were added along the bottom with Moody Mauve ink. About a dozen fish were added with Lemon Lolly and Tahitian Tide ink to fill in the remaining empty areas.

The first card uses a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of the created background paper. The Sending Smiles stamp set and Sending Dies were used to create the greetings, with Lemon Lime Twist and Lost Lagoon paper. A Basic White Thick card base was used with a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ matte of Calypso Coral.

The second card uses a 2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of the background paper. With a 2 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ matte of Tahitian Tide. The card base is Soft Sea Foam with a greeting from the Sending Smiles stamp set.

The final card starts with a Tahitian Tide base which has the edges stamped with Tahitian Tide using the splatter stamp from the Beauty of the Deep set. Two matte layers are used, Calypso Coral 3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ and Orchid Oasis 3 1/2″ c 4 3/4″. The patterned paper is cut into 4 strips that are 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ each. The strips are reassembled in order leaving a small space between, and popped up with dimensionals. There is one left over strip that can be used to decorate the inside of a card.

I hope that you have fun creating with this technique!
