The first time that I saw this Fun Fold was on a swap card from Laurie Zollemer. I just saw it again on a card by Rachael Tessman and it brought back some fun memories of Laurie, who passed away several years ago from breast cancer. Laurie and Jan Carlson made my first year at a Stampin’ Up! Convention so much fun that I’ve gone every year since if possible. I always think of Laurie as the swap card queen!
I remember one time my husband grabbed her bag (the biggest Thirty-One bag made I think) of swap cards and was going to toss it in the trunk with the other luggage. Oh my! He was never going to make that mistake again.
Another super funny Laurie memory was weighing in our luggage, at the airport, to return home after a convention. The guys weighing the luggage heard us teasing Laurie that her bag was going to be over weight because of all the swap cards in it. So he put his foot on the scale when he weighed her bag. We all had a good laugh over that one. Of course, the employees at the airports probably can’t joke around like that anymore.
I just have to share one last Laurie memory. Our house was hit by a tornado right before convention. Laurie was really sick with cancer by then and wasn’t going to convention. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to go, but everything was already paid for so my husband talked me into going and leaving him with the mess. I didn’t have time to make swap cards, so Laurie made me a huge pile of swap cards and brought them over to my house.
Now, finally, on to the fun fold!

This cool fun fold opens up so that both the card front and the inside are visible when it stands open. How cool is that? I’ve used the Beach Day Bundle to decorate this card.

The umbrella and chair are colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers. The sandcastle is stamped on Crumb Cake. all three pieces are die cut with the matching Beach Day Dies. The sand is a 1″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Crumb Cake paper with one edge torn. A little bit of Crumb Cake ink was added with a Q-Tip under the umbrella and chair. The sky was colored with Tahitian Tide ink using a Blending Brush.

The inside of the card also had Tahitian Tide ink added to only the top left side using a Blending Brush. Crumb Cake ink was added to the bottom. The right side was left white because it shows through when the card is closed.
