Playing in the Rain

This card was created for the March #SUCreativeChallenge which was to use the Shimmery Embossing Paste on a project.

It was a rainy day when I was creating so I thought that the Playing in the Rain stamp set would be a perfect match. I had some odds and ends left of the retired Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper and ended up using those to create the card rather than stamping. I pulled out a mix of dies for cutting the panels; Deckled Circles, Scalloped Contours, Stylish Shapes and of course the Playing in the Rain Dies.

I didn’t have any embossing paste here at my winter home in Florida so I had to order a new jar. How yummy to open a new fresh jar of embossing paste! I’m not always particular about closing up jars and my old jar in Minnesota is a bit crusty and dry, I’d forgotten how nice it was to work with smooth embossing paste.

I used one of the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create the embossed background. Doesn’t it look like a sprinkling of sugar? Wouldn’t this look great combined with the Ice Cream Swirl set?

I didn’t have any embossing paste tools here, so just used a plastic knife to spread the paste. I used the serrated edge in some places and the back of the knife in others which gave a unique multifaceted look. I wonder how it would look to drag the serrated edge across a piece of paper without a mask? Hmmm…

At one time, I had die cut a bunch of the animals from the Rain or Shine DSP, some of which were on the edge of the paper, so were partial images. They work great on corners like this little guy that I added to the inside of the card. (Another reason to not throw away those scraps!)

Click on the link below to get yourself a jar of the Shimmery White Embossing Paste and play with this fun product. I’d love to see what you come up with, send me a photo when you complete your project.
