For most of this month I am going to be showcasing stamp sets that are retiring (boo hoo). Some of them will be going on sale starting April 9 and I will note the sale prices.
Today’s card uses the outdoorsy Lighting the Way stamp set and dies. I absolutely LOVE the lantern that is in the die set! It makes me think of trains and old western movies.
The card starts with an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Crumb Cake base scored at 4 1/4″. The next layer is a piece of the gorgeous Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper (4″ x 5 1/4″), which has a Stitched with Whimsy Die cut border. I love the gold foil splatters over the newsprint pattern.
To add even more sparkle, a 1/2″ strip of More Dazzle Specialty Paper (Retiring) was added behind the Lemon Lolly tag which was die cut with the Nested Essentials Dies (Not Retiring, YAY!). The strip is actually two pieces, (being really frugal here) taped to the back of the tag.
The lantern was die cut from Basic Black paper and to make it look like a light shinning, a 1 1/4″ square of Daffodil Delight was placed behind the globe.
The inside was left blank except for a 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ strip of the Nature’s Sweetness DSP.
The Lighting the Way stamp set and dies also feature Lightning Bugs. Did you ever catch Lightning Bugs as a kid and then wonder how those ugly black bugs got into your fairy jar in the morning, lol? I can still remember standing by the front step and my disappointment even though it was almost 60 years ago. Isn’t it strange the memories that stick?
