The Card Concept #206

Welcome to the Roost. Today I’ve got a card created for the Card Concept challenge. Challenges are a great way to get inspiration for creating cards. If you go to the Card Concept page and scroll down you will see dozens of cards all created using the same inspiration photo. It’s great to see how each creator has chosen a different element to focus on for creating their card. I’ve chosen the Stippled Roses Bundle to use for this card.

The Card Concept group outlines several different creative styles that could be used to create a card. I’ve chosen to use a Clean and Layered style which the Card Concept Artists lists as having these qualities:

  • Clean Lines
  • Lots of Layers
  • Designer Papers/Embossing
  • Clean and Fresh Looking
  • Some Colored Images
  • White Space

I’ve incorporated the two pinks, a blue and silver instead of the white from the inspiration photo. I’ve also added the green leaves which appear on the photo. This card has lots of layers and textures and uses both dry embossing (with an embossing folder) and heat embossing (with embossing powders).

Even the inside of the card has multiple layers to coordinate with the card front. The pink rose is created with the new Pretty In Pink 2024-2026 In-Color while the greeting rests on a piece of Bubble Bath pink cardstock.

The pink rose in the back has been embossed with White Embossing Powder as has the green leaf sprig at the bottom. The The white rose and top leaf sprig have been embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. The dark pink background layer is embossed with the Layering Floral 3D Embossing Folder. A strip of ribbon in Shy Shamrock (new In-Color) was added behind the flowers but I’m afraid that it was almost lost in the process, lol. The greeting, from the Stippled Roses stamp set, is placed on a die cut from the Adventurous Sky (another new item) and a second die cut was created in white and then sliced in half long ways and layered under the greeting .
