Because I totally didn’t understand this theory presented on page 133 of the Stampin’ Up! catalog, I thought that it would be a good topic to share. It was explained to me by my friend, Dawn Olchefske. When it says to choose three colors that are side-by-side on the color wheel, it means three of the inside colors. Then you choose one color from each of the three from along the outside of the wheel.

For my first card, I chose the colors Orange, Yellow Orange and Yellow from the inside circle of the color wheel. Next, I picked Lemon Lime Twist, Wild Wheat and Peach Pie.

The butterfly and flowers are colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers and then fussy cut. The circles are die cut with the Spotlight on Nature Dies and the greeting label is die cut from the Stylish Shapes Dies. The butterfly is colored with both Light and Dark Wild Wheat. I didn’t have the Peach Pie Stampin’ Blend Marker so I used the Light Calypso Coral and Light Pumpkin Pie to color the flowers. (We have to use what we can use, right?)

The inside of the card has a second piece of the Country Woods Designer Paper (5 ” x 3 3/4″) with a Basic White (4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″) write on liner. By the way, the DSP on the front is 3″ x 5 1/2″.

My second card uses Blue, Blue-Green, and Green colors from the inside of the color wheel. I chose Azure Afternoon, Summer Splash, and Pretty Peacock. Instead of the dark side of the Country Woods Designer Paper, the light side was used and the front piece was cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″.

For the inside on this card the DSP was cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″ with a Basic White piece that is 4 1/4″ x 2 1/4″.
