Charming Duck Pond

Happy Hump Day! Today I have a card using the Color Blocking Technique, which is using squares or rectangles to create a card. I’m a scrap hoarder so for me that means using some of those pretty scraps! The Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper was used for this fun birthday card.

Even the focal image (duck) was a scrap of the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper! This entire card can be made without any expensive tools. Use the paper scraps that you have and fit the pieces in like a puzzle cutting with a scissor where needed. Here are the sizes of the pieces on my card:

  • Four 1″ squares
  • 1″ x 3 3/4″ strip (should have been 3 7/8″)
  • 1″ x 4″
  • 3/4″ x 4″
  • 1 5/8″ x 2″
  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ Pretty Peacock matte
  • 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ white base scored at 4 1/4″

Finally, I’ll leave you with a little corny duck humor:

Why do ducks never grow up? … Because they grow down.
