We had our annual Pumpkin Carving Party on Friday evening. This year was a bumper crop for Pumpkins, some were so big that the kids couldn’t carry them into the house. The rule seemed to be that if you couldn’t carry it in yourself, you needed to choose a different pumpkin, lol.
I do have a Halloween card to share today as well. It uses a technique that Sara Douglas shared about the Two Tone Cardstock

This card uses the Potions & Spells Bundle while showcasing the new Two Tone Cardstock. A 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of the Pumpkin Pie Two Tone paper was cut into 1/4″ and 3/4″ strips, then reassembled with the light side of the paper facing out on the narrow strips and the dark side out on the wider strips. They were glued to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of the Two Tone cardstock and then the edges could be trimmed for any overhang before it was added to the card base.
The base is our regular Pumpkin Pie cardstock that is cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. Some sparkles were stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink on the darker strips. The 3 1/4″ Basic Black Circle is cut with a die from the Christmas Friends Die set. The Raven and books are from the Potions & Spells stamp set and dies. The Raven is stamped on Basic Gray with Tuxedo Black ink and the beak and feet are colored with a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker. Three black gems were added to complete the front of the card. I used the Matte Black Dot on this card, which are no longer available but I have included a link for Sparkle Gems which would work as well.

The inside of the card has a strip of the Halloween Spells DSP, part of the Memory Keeping Line of products. It’s mounted on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White which is stamped with a greeting and sparkles from the Potions & Spells stamp set.
Before I leave you today, I just have to share some photos of our Pumpkin Carving Party!

We all gather around my crafting table, we did discuss the need for an additional table next year, it was a bit crowded. It does take a bit of work to get the table ready for card class again, lol, but I promise that your cards will not get any pumpkin goo on them.

As the oldest, Bryson is an old pro and creates his masterpieces all on his own.

Lilly is the youngest and played with the toys for a long time before she decided to come join in the carving, but once she started she was into it!

Zen got really creative and carved out his entire name on one of his pumpkins. He isn’t so fond of cleaning out the pumpkins, unlike…

Wyatt who didn’t have any problem gutting pumpkins, lol.

Salem was hard at work and created a snowman pumpkin. He did 3 pumpkins that, with a little help, were carved out to stack on top of each other. He was going to add stick arms when the snowman pumpkin was assembled at his home.

Huntley did another elaborate carving on this pumpkin. I even got into the groove and did an elaborate one this year instead of my usual Charlie Brown style pumpkin.
We were missing one grandson this year, it wasn’t Isaac’s weekend to be with his dad. Sadly, we won’t see him until after Halloween now. We’ll have to create something else together next week.
Thanks for stopping by The Roost!
