Do You Throw Away Scrap Strips?

Wait! Here are two cards that use those strips that are left over.

To create this card, choose some 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ or longer strips of cardstock and glue them onto a 4 1/4″ square of Basic White. Be sure to snug them up tight to each other. Let dry, then die cut with a large circle die (Spotlight on Nature Dies used here). Both greetings are popped up with dimensionals.

Paper Dimensions:

  • Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
  • 4 1/4″ White Square for colored strips
  • 8 – 1/2″ colored strips – 3 3/4″ Circle Die
  • 2 1/4″ Circle Die Cut for greeting
  • Basic White 3/4″ x 1″ greeting label
  • Colored Cardstock 1″ x 4 1/4″

This card uses colored strips peeking through a raised panel. The strips are adhered to a 2″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Basic White. The floating Basic White panel starts as a 4 3/4″ x 4″ panel which is then cut in half with a wiggly pattern. To place the colored strips in the correct spot, place the piece with the wiggly cut, back on the card front so that there is an even edge around all of the sides. Use a pencil to mark the center of the wiggle. Remove the wiggle piece and then adhere the stripes centered over the pencil line.

Stamp the greeting on the bottom of the wiggle panel and adhere with dimensionals.

I hope that you enjoyed this ideas for using those skinny paper scraps. Thanks for stopping by The Roost!
