Quilt Card Fun Fold

Hello crafters! Today I’m super excited to attend the first day of the First Stampin’ Up! Virtual Album Retreat this evening. I will be sharing my 24 scrapbook pages from the retreat over the next few weeks. Today, however, I have a fun fold card to share.

I have two versions of the card to share. The fun fold square in the center works something like closing the flaps on a box. I’ve done a video tutorial because it’s much easier to show than to explain, but I’ll give it a shot.

  1. Start with a 6″ x 6″ square of patterned paper. Score each side at 1 3/8″. Remove the corners by cutting on the score lines.
  2. Fold over one score line. Cut from the score line to the right of the folded paper to the tip of the paper on the bottom right. This will remove a triangle and leave a triangle on the edge of the square. Unfold the paper, fold over the triangle that was just created and repeat. Keep spinning the paper in the same direction until triangles are formed on all four sides.
  3. Fold the triangle in towards the center. Tuck the last one under the first one.

This card uses the Full of Life Designer Series Paper, Basic Black and Pretty In Pink. The greeting is matted with two strips of gold ribbon.

Both cards use the Beautiful Butterflies stamps, Dies and Embossing Folder.

Here is a close-up of the Fun Fold Element and the butterfly. This card uses the 2025-2027 In-Color Designer Series Paper, Cloud Cover, Pretty In Pink and Petunia Pop Colors. It was created for a Challenge which was to use a new In-Color with an old In-Color. Pretty In Pink and Petunia Pop are part of the 2024-2026 In-Color group while Cloud Cover and Secret Sea (the DSP) are part of the 2025-2027 In-Color group.

I think that the Cloud Cover combined with the Pretty In Pink would make great baby cards if there is anyone out there who doesn’t find out what sex the baby is going to be.

The butterfly is stamped on Azure Afternoon paper with Tuxedo Black ink and die cut. Then a second butterfly is die cut from Vellum as well as a Basic Black body. The butterfly layers are only adhered in the body area with the black body on the top to cover the adhesive under the vellum. The wings can be bent up a bit to give the butterfly some movement.

Both cards have a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Pretty in Pink embossed with the Beautiful Butterflies Embossing Folder and three of the pretty Brushed Brass Butterflies for a little shine.

I hope that you have enjoyed these cards and if the directions for the fun fold quilt square are clear a mud, be sure to watch my Quilt Pattern Fun Fold video.

The inside of the card includes another greeting from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set and some fun confetti.
