Faux Neon Technique

Let’s using heat embossing combined with Watercolor Pencils to create a neon sign on our card!

The bicycle image is from the cool Along These Lines stamp set while the greeting is from the Blooming Phrases. A match made in heaven or what?

It’s a must to use an Embossing Buddy first when embossing on black paper with white powder. Simply rub the embossing buddy over across the paper to make sure there is no static to attract the embossing powder where it isn’t wanted. Next use VersaMark ink to stamp the images, dust with the white embossing powder and use a heat tool to create the magic.

Let the embossing cool, it can be sticky at first, then using a sharpened colored pencil color the embossing powder. Try to keep the colored pencil only on the embossing power lines.

Here are the paper dimensions:

  • Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • Matte 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Designer Paper 5 1/8″ x 2 1/4″
  • Black 5 1/8″ x 1 5/8″
