Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder

You have to HAVE this embossing folder! I’ve seen so many awesome cards created with it.

I have a bunch of examples today of cards that I’ve made with the folder. Let’s take a look…

The first card is one that we did at the Creative Cards Class last week. It starts with a Crushed Curry 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece. The back side (no logo) of the embossing folder is inked with Pecan Pie ink. Then an Early Espresso ink spot (these come in the Paper Pumpkin Kits or can be purchased empty and filled with ink refills) was rubbed over the piece with circular motions to darken the background and outlines. Next, Stampin’ Blend Markers were used to color the leaves and flower centers.

The greeting is from The Right Words stamp set on a label from the Unbounded Love Dies. The ribbon and gold embellishments are retired items.

This card was created the exact same way as the first card for my Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder Video. It features some products from the upcoming September to December Mini Catalog and new Online Exclusives.

I love this Irregular Trim! It’s from the new Autumn Toile Suite Collection.

The inside features more of the stamps from the Gathering Moments Online Exclusive set.

Next, is an example of the embossing folder being inked on the front side (logo side). The background coloring was all added with Stampin’ Blend Markers.

This photo shows a comparison of the debossed side (on the left) and the embossed side (on the right).

Here’s another example done with the Blooming Phrases stamp set and a little dragonfly from the Dragonflies and Birds Brass Embellishments. This card is trimmed with Mossy Meadow while the others were done with Early Espresso. The base is Darling Duckling (a new In Color) while the others were all Crushed Curry.

The next three cards are a bit more different than these.

This card uses the same inking the folder technique but is done on a piece of the Splendid Autumn Designer Series Paper. I love the way the colors glow.

I even had a piece left over from the 6″ x 6″ DSP so placed a bit on the inside.

If you want some shine, try embossing a piece of foil. No inking was done on this piece. The greeting from the Amber Autumn stamp set is done on a piece of Very Vanilla and punched with the 1 7/8″ Circle Punch. It sits on an Early Espresso matte and has a Soft Sea Foam base.

My final card for today is done is Basic White, with no stamping.

The embossing is done on Vellum. To attach it to the Basic White matte a thin layer of Liquid Glue was run around the edge of the piece with a bit extra in the corners. Then this was layered onto a Thick Basic White card base.

The 3D embossing folders give such depth, they are really stunning.

I hope that these samples have given you some inspiration for using the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. Remember to watch the video tutorial.

FYI: The ink rinses right off the embossing folder by running it under water, and an old towel dries it off easily.

Yesterday Stampin’ Up! announced that the red rubber stamps will no longer be available after the end of the 2025 -2026 Annual Catalog. I’m very sad to learn this as they are truly my favorites.

The Stampin’ Write Markers are also being discontinued but these will be only available while supplies last. So order them NOW if you need some. These markers are so versatile and last a very long time. Stampin’ Up! feels that because they are often used to ink the rubber stamps they will have less use after the rubber stamps are discontinued.

The other change that is happening is that the stamps are going to no longer be packaged in cases but will come in plastic envelopes like the dies now come in. The empty cases will still be available to purchase for those of us who love having the stamps on book shelves. I’m sure that some enterprising demonstrator will come up with files for the case inserts.

I’m not a fan of these changes but we all know that change is inevitable. Some people are excited for the new packaging and love the photopolymer stamps. We will continue to have fun stamps and beautiful coordinating colors to work with.
