Emboss Resist Technique

Happy hump day! This week today is going to be a catch up day for me. Monday was recovering from the long weekend camping trip, Tuesday was plain crazy with meetings. Today is roll up my sleeves and get everything organized for the Gather Together Crafternoon on Sunday. Saturday is the annual Pumpkin Carving Party in our rec room which is also my studio for classes. Yikes, it’s going to be a fast turn around Saturday evening/Sunday morning.

Today I have a card using an Emboss Resist Technique and making use of the mask from last Wednesday’s card which featured masking a sun.

The embossed layer is actually the back side of the mask, and the punched circle is the circle that was removed to create the sun on the previous card.

The large Peaceful View stamp was inked with VersaMark ink and Clear Embossing Powder was added and heated. Next, Old Olive ink was added to the bottom using a Blending Brush and Cajun Craze was added to the top. A quick rub with a tissue removed any excess ink from the embossed areas.

I had so much fun playing with the Emboss Resist Technique that I had to create a few more cards and I thought I would share them.

This is the card that we made at the Creative Cards Class a few weeks ago. You can see how adding less ink with the Blending Brushes gives the card a different look and tone. We also brushed ink onto the circle and added a matte.

For this card I used four colors of ink with the Blending Brushes and White Embossing Powder. These images are from the Autumn Trees stamp set.

Sometimes I like to head to my library of retired stamps, and that’s what I did for this card. For a similar look check out the current Etched Autumn stamp item 166082. Sometimes we just can’t buy all the new toys and have to make do with the old ones, lol.
