Usually on Wednesday I post a video tutorial, but this past week I purchased an Online Craft Class done by Stampin’ Up! and was so impressed that I want to share the cards that I created during the class and encourage you to purchase the class as well.

It was live on the day that I watched it but it can still be purchased as a recording. Truthfully, I think the recording would be easier to craft along with because it gives you the option to stop and rewind.

The only part of the class that I was not impressed with was the printable instructions. I found the printing too small to read and the cutting directions confusing. It was 9 pages of printed material that could have been condensed into 2 with lists of measurements done in columns per project.

If you purchase the Brushed With Beauty Craft Class from me, I will email you a PDF of the instructions for the cards that I created during the class. The class actually included a box, a scrapbook page and two cards, but I chose to turn all of the projects into cards.

The first project was a box. I used the decorative front of the box to create a card. During the class the artist who designed the paper gives some lessons in spacing and arrangement that are very interesting.

The Words of Beauty Bundle has word stamps that build to create greetings and dies that cut out shadows and layers of the words ‘just’ and ‘because’.

The second project was a 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page. I used the flowers from the scrapbook page design to create a card. The directions for the flowers included using Embossing Paste, but when I opened my jar, which I hadn’t used in a LONG time, it was like a rock. So no embossing paste on my card, lol.

I did really like learning from the artist that the delicate flower outlines are not meant to line up exactly with the base flower. I would have spent WAY too much time trying to align those.

The third card was also supposed to have Embossing Paste across the front, colored with two inks. As a substitute, I used a Water Painter and added strokes of ink across the embossed image. I substituted the Sunflower Embossing Folder for the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder from the suite. I didn’t think I needed it when I ordered the Bundles and Paper but I have to admit that I did really like the looks of the cards done with the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder. I would recommend adding it to your order.

For the final card we die cut leaves from a white panel and then reinserted them with the inside parts removed. I’d like to try this technique again but maybe color the leaf cut outs before inserting them. The colored leaves are die cut from vellum and colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers.
