Swap Card Friday

Oh my gosh, have you all recovered from Thanksgiving Dinner yet? It was a wildly chaotic day here at The Roost. We had 17 people for our Thanksgiving Feast and enough food to feed 40, lol. It was super fun and I love when we can gather and visit. It was even nice enough outside that the kids (and ambitious adults) got out for a bit to play in the snow.

I chose four cards that are thank you and thinking of you themed for today to fit with the gratefulness theme of Thanksgiving. They are all floral cards with some fun coloring and unique techniques.

Robin Vought has used the Beautiful Motifs Bundle for this pretty card. This is my first up close look at the unique die which cuts out just portions of the leaves on the white layer. I love the way that Robin has colored portions of the leaves with a small Blending Brush. The card is done in monochromatic colors with white and Pretty Peacock.

It doesn’t show much in the photo but the die cut flower sprig has been brushed with Wink of Stella and gives a pretty shimmer as the card is tipped.

The Damask Embossing Folder was used on the Lost Lagoon Two-Tone Cardstock layer. I really thought that it was Pretty Peacock and had to tip back a corner to see the lighter side. The 1.2″ White Woven Ribbon is nice lightweight ribbon. Three Iridescent Pearls finish off the card.

This pretty card didn’t have a creator’s name on it but has some beautiful coloring with the Thankful Garden Bundle. This bundle has masks to use for coloring in the shadows and details. Anyone card make cards like a true artist with this set!

The Pressed Flowers Embossing Folder gives some texture to the background. While a Spotlight on Nature Die Cut Circle from the Lovely Garden Paper Pack adds interest at the top.

Tracy has created a classic card layout with the Charming Day Bundle. She has also used the Damask Embossing Folder on the white background layer. The triple matting really adds depth to the card. If you would like to recreate this layout, here are the paper cutting dimensions:

  • Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • Layer 1 is 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Layer 2 is 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
  • Layer 3 DSP 3″ x 4″
  • White Focal Image Layer 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″

The top focal image layer is popped up with dimensionals and two Charming Shimmer Gems finish off the card.

Karen’s card also features the Charming Day Bundle and an awesome example of the tearing technique. She has torn both the Petal Pink and Pretty Peacock layers to let the Floral Charm Designer Paper peek through. A double bow of strands of the Petal Pink Braided Trim decorate the die cut flower stem.

The greeting is layered onto two circles punched with the 1 3/4″ and 1 7/8″ circle punches. White some Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots finish off this card.

Four beautiful cards packed full of inspiration!
