Happy Monday and welcome to The Roost! Today’s cards start with a CASE (Copy And Share Everything) from page 38 of the January to April Mini Catalog. I really loved when Stampin’ Up! called their catalogs Idea Books, because they truly are a place to find ideas.

My first card is almost an exact copy of the card in the catalog. Of course, I had to give it my own twist. I chose the Rolling Waves stamp set instead of the Nature’s Symphony. The catalog version uses the Stylish Shapes dies to create the squares, while my card has simple squares cut on a trimmer.

Square Sizes:

• Nature Walk Designer Paper 2 squares 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
• Coastal Cabana 2 squares 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
• Nature Walk DSP 2″ x 2″
• Coastal Cabana 2″ x 1 1/2″
• Old Olive 2″ x 2″

The Coastal Cabana squares are given texture by using the large water image from the Rolling Waves stamp set. Ink it up with Coastal Cabana ink, stamp off on grid paper and then stamp once on the square for a softer image.

The leaf is also colored with the large water image but is stamped full strength. The little starfish were die cut first and then stamped, again with Coastal Cabana. If I were doing more than one card, I would line the stamps up in the die, stamp first and then die cut (I think?). It was a bit of a struggle lining up the little images on the tiny pieces of paper.

The greeting is stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder on the Old Olive square. The edges are also embossed using the ‘sand’ image. I thought I was so clever to do that (pat on my back time). The greeting is popped up with dimensionals and three pearls are added.

My second card uses the exact same measurements but instead of the Rolling Waves Bundle, I’ve used the Springtime Scenes Bundle. The cardbase is Fresh Freesia and the designer paper is the Perennial Lavender DSP.

I used a Blending Brush and ‘flicked’ the edges of the DSP squares with Fresh Freesia ink to give them a softer edge. The little flowers and the leaf were cut from scraps of the Perennial Lavender paper.

The leaf die actually cuts out the centers of the leaves but I wanted them to be in-tact so I glued them back in place.

Here is a close-up of the greeting square. It’s heat embossed with White Embossing Powder on a Gorgeous Grape square. The little lines around the edge were done with the bottom of the ‘grass’ stamp.

The little flowers have Iridescent Pearls added to the centers.

I was so excited by this layout that I really wish I had the time to make a dozen cards all with different papers and stamp sets. I’d love to see which stamp sets and papers YOU use.
