Perched In A Tree

I was lucky enough to get the Aspen Tree Dies for free while they were offered as a Sale-a-bration item and I thought maybe, I could get by without the matching Perched in a Tree stamp set, BUT, I ended up ordering it to complete the set. The Aspen Tree Dies are AWESOME! and the Perched In A Tree stamp set is a wonderful addition to the dies.

This card starts with a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper which was die cut with the large Aspen Tree Die. This die doesn’t cut out the edges but cuts the trees and an oval out of the middle of the paper, leaving the corners. The branch was die cut from the same pattern of paper. This was all adhered to a Thick Basic White card base.

This next card uses the opposite side of the same piece of Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper used on the first card. I thought that the golden trees would look like the sun shinning on Aspen trees. The Aspen Tree was fussy into an oval. The branch is die cut from Basic Black paper. There are two layers of die cut leaves, one black and the other of Crushed Curry which was inked with the splatter stamp in Crushed Curry ink.

The large leaf is die cut from Basic White, stamped with a greeting from the Framed & Festive stamp set (Available starting November 1 in the Fitting Florets Collection) and Crushed Curry ink is added with a Blending Brush. Three Flower Trinkets are added to the branches. The background layer is Cork (retired but I was hoarding a few pieces) and the base is Pumpkin Pie for a fall feel.

For this final card the them is Christmas with the trees done in Basic White and again, fussy cut into an oval. The branch and leaves are both done in Basic Black and the Thick Basic White base is covered with a piece of the Pretty Prints Designer Series Paper. This greeting is included in the Perched In A Tree stamp set. Three Matte Black Dots are layered onto the large leaf which is sponged with Crushed Curry ink.

All three birds have been colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers. The chest is Light Calypso Coral, the main part of the body is Light Night of Navy and the feet and beak are Dark Daffodil Delight. No fancy shading was done, just quick and simple coloring.

I found myself wanting to die cut more different designer series paper patterns to see how they look as trees, lol. Hope you get inspired by these card. To purchase any of these products, click on the links below.
