Trusty Tools

Hello and happy Saturday. Are you ready for the new year? Today is the last DOswts Blog Hop of the year. The theme today is items from the new January to April Mini Catalog. I’ve chosen the Trusty Tools Bundle to showcase here today, with a greeting from the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid Embossing Folder/Die

I fell in love with this tape measure paper from the Trusty Toolbox Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration Event. I’d be happy with 12 sheets of this pattern but there are 5 other patterns in the pack that are great too.

The Trusty Tools stamp set doesn’t have any greetings and I plan on writing my own greeting that says ‘You really measure up!” I’m thinking Valentine for my hubby.

This greeting was created with the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid which is an embossing folder and die that work together to emboss and cut all in one pass through the Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine. The peg board is created with one of the Trusty Tools Dies and was cut down a bit smaller to fit the greeting.

Here is a quick view of how to create the fold on the card front.

  1. Start with a standard 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ base scored at 4 1/4″
  2. Mark the center at 2 3/4″ and the sides at 2 1/4″ for the blue lines.
  3. Score all four, fold the red lines in and the blue lines out.
  4. Cut the DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″ Mark the center long side at 2 5/8″ and cut each side to the top corner.

  1. The card is cute, but I was confused by the directions. On my first try I ended up with a tuxedo fold 8-1/2” wide that doesn’t fit on an A2 card. I then realized that the pattern was not to scale and that I needed to fold the 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” piece in half, then mark the measurements on the front half of the card base.
It looks like the large triangle cut from the DSP goes onto the front flap and the smaller triangles go onto the part of the inside of the card that is revealed by the fun fold.
