Calm & Quiet

Today’s card was created for the #DOswts426 Challenge. The DOstamperSTARS are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who joined Stampin’ Up! with Dawn Olchefski, or who signed up with a demonstrator (like me) who signed up under Dawn Olchefski. It’s a great group of ladies who love to share their ideas, creativity and friendship.

This layout is a classic and can be used with just about any stamp set. The patterned paper is 3 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ and the image layer is 4″ x 3″.

The Calm & Quiet stamp set is a Host set from the Annual Catalog and has just 2 images. The set is rubber which is still my favorite media for stamping. There are always pros and cons, and the big plus on rubber stamps is the way that the ink is picked up and transferred. Of course they aren’t as easy to use for placement as the photopolymer stamps what are clear and can be seen through.

I’ve used the larger image on the front of the card and colored it in with Watercolor Pencil. After coloring I used a Blender Pen to smooth out the lines. I’ve chosen the colors for this card to match the person that I’m making it for. Karissa loves purple and I should have probably added a fishing pole too! I’ve pulled in a couple of other stamp sets as well. The greeting is from Coffee with Friends stamp set, the grid lines on the base are from the Notes of Nature (Pecan Pie ink on Pecan Pie paper), and the inside greeting is from the Apple Harvest stamp set.

For the inside I used the second stamp from the Calm & Quiet stamp set. For this image I used a Blending Brush and just added a little Balmy Blue for the water and Granny Apple Green for the grass. I did color the birds with the Watercolor Pencils to make them a bit sharper.

I gave the envelope a little love with another of the smaller images inked with Pecan Pie. The designer paper behind the image is from the Nature’s Sweetness DSP and I almost hated to use it because so much of it was covers, lol. This paper is a must have for nature lovers, shinny thing lovers, patterned paper lover…you get right? This one should be on your list!

The greeting is stamped onto a circle which has been die cut with the Deckled Circle Dies. I think it was the third on from smallest. The little gems are actually cork dots which are part of the Nature’s Sweetness Suite.

Hope you enjoyed this card.
