Beach Day

Today’s card is one of the cards from my Creative Cards Class. Because I wanted a card that didn’t involve lots of stamping and coloring, this card uses mostly the Beach Day Dies to create a beach scene for a sunny birthday card.

Once all of the pieces are die cut it’s a simple matter of layering all the pieces. To make it easy sheet adhesive was add to the paper before die cutting.

The lifeguard shack is actually fun to build. It starts with the large outline die as the base, done in Azure Afternoon. The flag from the large outline is cut off and instead a Granny Apple Green flag is die cut and added. The life buoy is die cut twice, once in Real Red and once in Basic White to create a white and red buoy. Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper was used for the surfboard. The grass was cut twice, once in Shaded Spruce and once in Old Olive. The birds are cut from Basic Black.

The sand is created with 3 pieces of Crumb Cake paper, all cut with the wavy die and layered to create rippling sand. Use a Blending Brush to add shadows along the bottom if desired.

The inside of the card, has another die cut, some waves, cut from Azure Afternoon paper. To make white caps, remove the narrow cut outs.
