Embossing Paste Technique

For the month of March Stampin’ Up! has had a challenge to use embossing paste. Today I’ve got two cards for you and a Video Tutorial using an Embossing Folder with Embossing Paste.

The Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder will be available in the 2024-2025 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog starting in May. I’ve never tried combining an Embossing Folder and Embossing Paste before, so this was new to me. It’s a bit messy but fun, and gives a really unique texture.

The first card uses the Notes of Nature Bundle which is being retired. I love this set and really feel like I haven’t used it nearly enough. The Tailor Made Tags Dies, another retiring item (super sad!), were used for the greeting label.

Paper Dimensions:

  • Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • Matte 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Embossed Layer 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Tag 2″ x 4″
  • Tag Reinforcer Tiny Scrap
  • Vellum small scraps

The Shimmery White Embossing Paste was added to the indented side of the embossing folder and then run through the Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine. Be sure to have a damp rag or paper towel handy to wipe up any embossing paste that squishes out.

Let the paper dry for an hour or so, it might need a weight applied after it’s dry to flatten the paper out.

Be sure to wash all the tools right away, because the embossing paste will dry on them quickly.

The inside of the card has some stamping to coordinate with the tag on the front.

The second card uses the Hearts & Hugs Bundle another new set from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. This card uses Very Vanilla Thick (also retiring), Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist card stocks. The greeting label is die cut with a die from the Hearts & Hugs Dies but it was shortened by cutting it twice. The walruses are colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers. I intended to color one pink and the other blue, but goofed and started coloring the boy walrus pink so colored them both with Bubble Bath and then colored over it again with Balmy Blue. I liked the resulting color! Sometimes mistakes turn out.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WAS HAVING ANOTHER SENIOR MOMENT WHEN I TAPED THE VIDEO AND SAID THAT THE NEW CATALOG ITEMS WERE AVAILABLE IN APRIL, BUT I SHOULD HAVE SAID MAY. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISINFORMATION.

You can get some of the new catalog items in April by purchasing a Starter Kit. All of the items used on these cards are included on the demonstrator preorder, which will be available in April.
