Time for another blog hop with the creative DOStamperSTARS! I’m also excited to be attending a Scrap Day in a local community. I’m planning on catching up on scrapbooking some memories with my grandkids. The event runs from 9 am to 9 pm. I’m hoping to get 9 pages done! We’ll see how I do.

Although the inspiration sketch hinted at a holiday card, I went down another path and did a non-holiday, thinking of you card featuring the Beautiful Moments stamp set and the Stampin’ Blend Markers.

The image is stamped with Basic Gray ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. Instead of cutting out the woman image and layering it on top of the strip, as shown on the inspiration sketch, I decided to create the strip with the Stampin’ Blend markers. I used a ruler and drew a very light pencil line at the top and bottom of where I wanted my strip and then colored it with Dark Fresh Freesia. For all of the other colors I used the light marker instead of the dark one to create a softer image. The dress is Calypso Coral, skin is Petal Pink and hair is So Saffron. The leaves are just lightly touched with Mint Macaron.

The greeting stamp actually has the words stacked on top of each other so to get them in a row instead, I first taped off the ‘you’ and stamped the ‘thinking of’, cleaned the stamp well and dried it, then taped off the ‘thinking of ‘ portion and stamped the ‘you’. To create the tails on the ends, I snipped straight in to the center and then cut from the corner to the point where the snip ended to remove the unwanted piece. The Triple Tag Punch would have worked too, but it was across the room and I was too lazy to get up and get it. Before adhering the greeting with dimensionals, I decided the background was too white. The top is lightly colored with Balmy Blue using a Blending Brush and below the strip is colored a bit heavier with Mint Macaron. I decided to place the finished piece onto a matte of So Saffron to echo the woman’s hair and mount it all onto a Mint Macaron card base.

Because I envision this card being used to reach out to a friend, I left lots of room to write a note on the inside but added some more images from the Beautiful Moments stamp set to create continuity with the front. In that same vein, the edges are brushed with Blending Brushes using the Balmy Blue and Mint Macaron, just like on the front.
