Red and Gold

Today’s card is another entry in the DOstamperSTARS Chinese New Year Challenge. The theme is Red and Gold. For this card I stepped out of my comfort zone and experimented with combining several different gold elements.

The tree from the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set is heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The die cut words from the Amazing Thanks dies are cut from gold foil. The gold splotches are done with gilded leafing.

The word dies in the Amazing Thanks die set have two dies for each word; the word die and a shadow die. I love doing shadows on letters or words. The gold layer is popped up with dimensionals. I cut tiny strips from the edge of a sheet of dimensionals to make the dimensionals fit on the small letters.

The 3 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of real red with the gilding was embossed with the Gingham embossing folder before the gilding was added. To adhere the gilding, I used liquid multipurpose glue. I rubbed a small amount of glue onto the raised flat spots and then let it dry. The glue will remain sticky when dry. I then placed pieces of the gilding onto the glue. I almost tossed it out but eventually decided to use it. I did have to vacuum after doing the gilding. It sure is messy.
