Today’s card is inspired by the Card Concept Challenge. I pulled out some older stamp sets to get the look that I had in mind with the checkered background. It was the first time that I went to find some of my older stamps in the antique hutch that I repurposed to hold them. Much nicer than digging through boxes!

I knew that I wanted a Balmy Blue bunny and checks somewhere on the card. I ended up using the Buffalo Check background stamp and the sweet bunny from the Easter Friends stamp set. I did have to fussy cut the bunny but he was pretty easy to cut out. I had several stamps that said Happy Easter, but I wanted one that said Easter Blessing and finally found one in the Itty Bitty Greeting set. The label is cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies and the edges are flicked with a sponge dauber and Calypso Coral ink.

This was the inspiration photo for the challenge. The colors that I used were Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Calypso Coral and Basic Gray to follow closely with the colors on the graphic. I did add in the Misty Moonlight ribbon because it was the closest that I had to a gray. The little blue checkered bunny in the photo is what caught my eye and what I pulled out to use for my card. As usual, my style is clean and layered. I never think of my ‘style’ but I do tend to follow a pattern, lol. How about you? Do you ever think about what style you use when creating your cards?

I wanted to add some leafy green to the card somewhere and ended up using the large die from the Succulents Dies. I wanted the checkered background to show through and the Succulents Die is very open and lacy so it worked perfectly. Both the greeting and the bunny are popped up with dimensionals. The ribbon was adhered to the back of the bunny with Stampin’ Seal before the dimensionals were added. The Succulent die cut was adhered with liquid glue added just on the edges. The little Loose Flowering Flourishes were adhered with Glue Dots.

I can’t believe that it’s Easter already!
