#DOswts393 – Color Combo Inspiration Hop

Happy Saturday! It’s time for another STARS blog hop. This month the STARS have been creating fall themed cards for a Baker’s Dozen Challenge and this card is my 13th and final entry in that challenge.

I saw this layout on Cindy Brumbaugh’s blog and thought it looked like fun so I gave it a try. To create the card base, start with a standard 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of card stock scored at 4 1/4″. Then cut the card front diagonally from the score line (top left corner) to the lower right corner to remove a triangle from the right side of the card front.

The photo above shows the card open. Here are the dimensions:

  • Cajun Craze Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ Scored at 4 1/4″ with a triangle removed from the front
  • Inner Cajun Craze 3″ x 8 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
  • Rustic Harvest DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″ Cut diagonally from top left corner to bottom right corner
  • Rustic Harvest DSP 2 1/8″ Stylish Shapes Die Cut Circle
  • Crumb Cake 2 1/4″ Scallop Circle from Layering Circles Dies
  • Rich Razzleberry 2 1/2″ Stylish Shapes Die Cut Circle
  • Crumb Cake 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Basic White 2 3/4″ x 4″

There are a couple of ways to cut the triangle of Rustic Harvest DSP for the small flap. Use the top half of the diagonally cut Rustic Harvest piece to create the triangle for the inner card by measuring 2 7/8″ from the right top to left top, make a mark. Measure from the top right to the bottom, down 4 1/8″. Then cut off the strip on the long side from one mark to the other. OR, cut a new piece of DSP 2 3/4″ x 4″ and cut on the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right. Remember that the direction of the pattern on the DSP is going to be important! It’s easiest if you choose a DSP that doesn’t have a directional pattern.

This was a fun card to make and I like that it stands well to display. The greeting that I used is from the Very Best Occasions stamp set.
