First, I’d like to thank Marika at the Colorful Options Challenge for inviting me to participate. In my home state of Minnesota the only green we seem to see in March is the leprechaun and clover decorations, lol. Here in my new winter home in Florida it is definitely green and the flowers are blooming. I actually was inspire to make a card with butterflies because at a recent event here in Saddlebag Lake Resort I saw several different kinds of butterflies while sitting on my butt at a games day event. I’ll have you know that I did toss a few bean bags during the event and surprised myself with 2 direct hits! Of course, no one was videoing my exploits so you’ll only have my word for it.

Several different stamp sets were used on this card. The Soft Sea Foam layer was stamped with the Stripped Layers background stamp with Versamark ink for a subtle pattern. The edges were distressed for more texture.

The challenge graphic had some photos with inspiring views, but I was already set upon my butterfly path before I even saw the photos.

The green sprigs under the butterfly are actually some of the carrot tops from the Thanks A Bunch SALE-A-Bration stamp set. They were extra’s that I had laying on my craft table, stamped in Garden Green ink, they fit perfectly on this card.

The butterfly from the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set was colored with Mint Macaron and given a sparkle with a coat of Wink of Stella. The matching Brilliant Wings Die set made quick work of die cutting the butterfly. A scattering of Opal Gems adds more sparkle.

The greeting is done with the Charming Sentiments Bundle and the Stylish Shapes Dies. The words were stamped on both a Soft Sea Foam piece and a Basic White piece of cardstock. Then both layers were die cut with the Sentimental Dies and Stylish Shapes Dies. The center words are popped up with dimensionals and now I have a second greeting in the opposite colors to use on another card. The Metallic Parakeet Party ribbon adds even more sparkle.

The inside greeting is stamped onto another Stylish Shapes die cut circle. This greeting is also from the Charming Sentiments stamp set but the dies weren’t used on this one. The little leaves were also left overs from another card, cut from the Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper with the Apple Blossom Dies. I often cut die cuts out and then decide that I don’t need them all or sometimes even totally switch directions. I leave them lay on my table or put them in envelopes in my die cases. I just can’t bring myself to toss them!
I actually had someone in mind when I created this card. She’s going through a really tough time and I thought that these greetings were perfect. She reads my blog so probably won’t be surprised when she gets this card.
Thanks for stopping by at The Roost! I hope that you have a wonderful day!
Great sentiments on the cards!
