First of all, I’m posting from my phone because my laptop is down. I’ve been hoping that it would be repaired soon, but no such luck.
Recently, a group that I’m in was talking about thinking back to how we we felt when we made our first card and it got me thinking about one of the first stamp sets I got, called Button Bear. I was so excited to get it! When I dug through my pile of stamps I found it was actually my 6th stamp set. I used to number my sets and keep a 3 ring binder with their stamped images. Once I became a demonstrator though, I stopped keeping track because I got so many more stamps each year. The Button Bear set was probably a birthday gift from my mom, because back then, as a young stay at home mom, a huge stamp set like this was out of my budget! The set has 17 wood mount stamps.

Of course, the cards that I made back in 1995 mostly consisted of a single layer of white cardstock with stamped images. Way simpler than this card with 3 extra layers and an image that is fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals! I still remember one of the main reasons I chose to become a demonstrator was to get a discount on the entire Stampin’ Write Marker set! I love coloring! This bear was colored with the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers. Another technique used on this card, one that I didn’t know about back then, is the masking technique. To place the honey pot in front of the bear, the pot was stamped first. Next, the pot was stamped on a sticky note, fussy cut, and placed over the pot before stamping the bear. When the sticky note is removed, the pot sits in front of the bear.
I hope that you enjoyed my walk down memory lane. What was your first stamp set?
