Have you ever tried stamping directly onto designer series papers? There are many reasons why you might want to. Sometimes the paper is pretty but needs just something a little extra to match the theme of the card. Maybe the greeting can be stamped directly onto the pretty patterned paper for subtle look.

This card features the Hey Chuck stamp set and dies, if you know me, you know that I HAD to have this set! Chickens are kind of a thing with me here at The Roost!

The fence and skateboard are stamped directly onto the 5 1/2″ x 3″ piece of Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper. This is a ‘backside’ of one of the designs. The fence and skateboard are colored in with Stampin’ Write Markers. The rooster is colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers. I’m not sure why I used both types of markers. The Blends do tend to bleed on some papers other than the Basic White, so be sure to test them first.

I did go a bit over the top with mixing colors on the rooster. The tail and head feathers have both Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze mixed. The neck is Cajun Craze, the body is Copper Clay and the eyelid is Dark Calypso Coral. It’s finished off with Dark Lemon Lolly feet, with Poppy Parade for the tongue and waddle. I’m not sure if this rooster makes me think of a crabby old man or a sassy teenager, what do you think? He is die cut and popped up with dimensionals.

The greeting is stamped directly onto the designer paper and has a Lemon Lolly die cut sun above it. The entire piece of designer paper is attached to the Lemon Lolly card base with dimensionals for some added depth. The inside was left blank on this card because I haven’t decided if it should be a birthday card or a graduation card.

I hope that you give this technique a try! Maybe start with a piece o patterned paper that isn’t your favorite? It’s a great technique for those swirly papers without lots of busy patterns.
