Paper Piecing

Today’s card was created for a challenge to use patterned paper pieces to to create or decorate an image on a card. This technique works great for a party dress but for this card I decided to use it to add some color to a chicken!

The first layer of this wild and crazy birthday rooster was stamped on a gray colored piece of the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper.

The rooster was stamped twice more. Once on another piece of the Fresh as a Daisy paper for the head and tail feathers, and another on a piece of Hello, Irresistible designer paper for the legs and beak. A Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker was used to add color to the waddle. A Basic Black circle was created with a punch and the greetings were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink.

The inside of the Calypso Coral card base has as Basic White strip with a single cake image stamped in Tuxedo Black.

I hope that you try out the paper piecing technique with a fun or unexpected image.

Product List – Remember that the designer series paper sales lasts through the whole month of June!
