Tiny Gift Bag with Handles

Today I’m stepping out of my box and making a little teeny gift bag for a challenge that I am participating in. There were 10 different items to create for the month of June and the create some type of packaging theme was left until last. Do you do the thing that you like the least first or last? My thought was that if I didn’t finish the challenge this was the thing that I wouldn’t mind skipping, hahaha…

So, here is my completed project. If I get really ambitious, my card class ladies might each get one of these at the July class. The class falls on my birthday so I just might do something a little extra. The finished size is 3 1/2″ x 1″ x 2 1/4″ deep.

This super cute paper is from the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper Pack which is on sale for only $25.50 (regularly $30). This cool pack of papers contains 48 12″ x 12″ sheet in a multitude of colors and patterns. There are 4 each of 12 double-sided designs for a total of 24 different patterns! There are swans, pretzels, flowers, stripes, strawberries, letters, and the list goes on.

Start with a 4″ x 9 1/2″ piece of designer paper. Score at 1/2″, 4″, 4 1/2″, 5 1/2″, 8 1/2″, and 9″.

Flip it over and score at 3/4″, 3″, and 3 1/2″

Remove the corners and center as shown on the photo above.

Fold in half (punch through both sides) and add to holes for the handles with a hole punch. The top flap will cover the handle knots.

Use a 5″ or 6″ piece of Simply Elegant Trim and knot on the inside.

Apply adhesive to both sides. The inside of the flap and the top of the bag, fold the flap over to cover the handle knots.

Add a strip of tear and tape to the outside of the single tab on the right side and on the inside of the bottom right tab along the bottom edge. These will hold the bag together.

Here is a top view.

And a bottom view.

Although I worked up a sweat trying to figure out the dimensions and scoring, this little bag is pretty easy to assemble. If you have any questions, give me a shout.
