Sweetest Star Christmas Card

Today I’ve CASE’d a card from the Mini Catalog on page 47 but given it my own little twist to make it mine.

The pretty candy canes on my card are actually a piece of designer paper from the Iconic Celebrations pack, while the card in the catalog uses a piece from the Snowy Scenes DSP.

TIP: Use liquid glue to adhere the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of DSP to the card front. It makes it easier to line up!

Here’s a snap shot of the catalog page. Mrs. Claus is done in Old Olive while I gave her a Bubble Bath pink dress. I was also a bit more frugal with the Peppermint gems, lol, they are hard to get!

I love how the gingerbread cookies look when heat embossed with white embossing powder on Pecan Pie cardstock! Mrs. Claus also has Wink of Stella brushed on her for some Christmas glitter but it doesn’t show in the photo. The Perennial Postage Dies were used to cut out the greeting label and Real Red background.

When the light bulb just isn’t coming on to give inspiration for creating cards, the Stampin’ Up! catalogs are a great place to start. Sometimes the card turns out exactly like the sample in the catalog while other times, it’s unrecognizable. Just be sure to have FUN!
