Silhouette Birthday

Hello, today I’m combining two challenges using the Sunrise Sailing and The Right Words stamp sets.

The Seize the Birthday Challenge this time was to use a silhouette so I’ve die cut the Sunrise Sailing sailboat from Basic Black paper and stamped the seagulls with black ink. The DOstamperSTARS Creative Challenge is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge and the center square is to create a birthday card.

If you want to recreate the colorful sunrise backdrop on this card here is the order of the inks used. Blending Brushes were used except for where noted. Starting at the top.

  • Petunia Pop
  • Pretty Pink
  • Calypso Coral
  • Azure Afternoon (added with a sponge dauber)
  • Misty Moonlight

Tips for Blending: Start off the paper (grid paper works great for this!) Experiment with circular or sweeping motions to see which gives the look you want.

The greeting is popped up with dimensionals. I planned on stamping directly onto the colored layer but got the image crooked (a constant issue that I have) so to correct it, I restamped the greeting on a white scrap and covered my mistake. It still looked a bit bare so I sent a photo to my friend Sandy and she suggested sea birds. Now why couldn’t I think of that! Sometimes it takes a village! They really finished off the card nicely.
