Hi Stampers,
I’ve just come in from working in my gardens, and I’m super happy that we have air conditioning! Wow, it’s hot out! Gee, as I was working in the gardens, I thought about jobs that I DON’T like. In the garden my least favorite job is deadheading flowers. In the house it’s dusting. In my stamp room it’s sorting out all the bits of projects that didn’t work out but I MIGHT be able to use for something else. I always put off all three of these jobs for as long as I can, lol.
This shaker card is another card that I made for a virtual display for a demonstrator event. All of the cards were using the Magic in This Night Suite. This was the last card that I created and it was late at night when I was completing it. The bats are cut from Black Glitter Paper. I wanted to make the bats thick so that they sat higher in the widow. The bats aren’t mirror images, so they don’t line up when putting them back to back. That’s why there is a bit of a white edge showing on the bats when I glued 2 back to back. I actually thought that it made the bats stand out more, so I left it. But, in the light of day, I realized that I could have cut half of the bats with the glitter paper up and the other half with the glitter paper down when I ran them through the die cutter and then they would have matched up.
To make the shaker card. First adhere the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Magic in This Night paper onto the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Pretty Peacock layer. Next, cut the oval out with one of the Layering Ovals Dies, be sure to leave enough room on the bottom for the greeting banner. Adhere a piece of Window Sheet to the back of the layered papers, I like to use liquid glue. Place a ring of the Foam Strips around the oval cut out, on top of the Window Sheet. Add small pieces of the Foam Strips to each of the corners as well. Place about 10 prepared bats onto the center of the Cajun Craze cardbase. (This means that you will need to cut 20 bats from the Black Glitter Paper) Remove all of the backing on the Foam Strip pieces and carefully place the window layer onto the cardbase.
Cut a 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Smoky Slate and stamp the greeting with Tuxedo Black. Add to the card front under the oval. Place and Iridescent Pearl on each side.

Add some more die cut bats to the inside of the card for more fun. Don’t forget to stamp a bat or two onto the envelope too!
It’s nice thinking about crisp fall weather on a day like today when it’s hotter than blazes outside. It’s also really nice to work on fall and winter cards, inside where the air conditioning is keeping it nice and cool.
Hope you are having a wonderful day. To purchase the supplies to create this card, click on the links below.
