When I look at this graphic, I can almost smell the smells of the old school building where I went to elementary school. I can’t even describe it, but it was an old smell, not bad or nasty, just full of history. That building is long gone now, it only exists in some old photos and some old folks memories. I was trying to capture that smell (crazy, I know) and the feelings that it evoked in my card today.

I’m not old enough to have written with a quill but I sure bet that they were used in that school during it’s long years of service. I started with just the strip of the Old World Paper but the card needed something more. I found the beautiful gray arrow patterned paper in the Peony DSP and it was just what the card needed.
I’m not sure if this card quite falls in the Clean and Simple Style but is more of a Clean and Layered Style or perhaps somewhere between the two styles. There is just one main image and it is quick and easy to recreate which would make it a Clean and Simple Design but it has two layers of designer paper and the globe is colored. To color the globe I first inked the stamp with black ink and then went over the continents with an Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker. Then I used a Balmy Blue Watercolor Pencil to color in the oceans and a blender pen to smooth out the water. The globe was stamped on a scrap of Shimmer Paper although it doesn’t show up well on the photo.
I used a Cinnamon Cider card base. Cinnamon Cider is my current favorite color. I never know when my favorite color is going to change, but Cinnamon Cider has been my favorite ever since it came out for the 2020-2022 In colors.
