The Stamping with the STARS challenge for today is Holiday Treat Packaging.

For some reason I couldn’t think of a single idea. Then Dawn Olchefske, the leader of the STARS, mentioned that we should think of simple projects, using the packaging options that Stampin’ Up! offers and I thought, ‘I can do that’. So here is my treat packaging idea, hope it gives you some inspiration.

The mini-pizza boxes are a perfect size for a cookie and are food safe. They come in packs of 8 and are also available in gold. I started with a 3 1/4″ square of Cinnamon Cider (my current favorite color) and layered on a golden colored 3″ square of Plaid Tidings DSP . I like that I could get 4 pieces out of the 6″ x 6″ designer paper with no waste.
The Apple Builder Punch (which can also be a pumpkin) done in Pumpkin Pie cardstock, made a nice backdrop for my Merry Moose Punch. The pumpkin stem is also punched with the Apple Builder Punch from Pear Pizzazz paper and the leaves are from Pumpkin Pie. I wanted to have a greeting that simply said “hello” for this treat box and neither the Harvest Hello or the Merry Moose set had one, so I pulled out the Country Home stamp set for the little hello and the tiny oval tag.
My Merry Moose is done on Crumb Cake cardstock with a Tuxedo Black outline. The solid body stamp is inked with Soft Suede but I did stamp off first before stamping the Merry Moose. If you aren’t familiar with the stamping off technique, ink up the stamp, stamp onto a scrap piece of paper and then stamp the image without reinking. This will give a lighter ink layer. I found that I had an easier time lining up the two step stamps by stamping the solid image first then adding the outline. My solid stamp is stained from heavy use and it is hard to see through.

I was inspired by the colors of the graphic for the Card Concept bi-weekly challenge when making this treat package so I decided to make a card as well using the same basic design and enter it into the challenge.

My card is in the Clean and Layered Style. It has clean lines with lots of layers but still has white space to keep it fresh looking.

For the card, I simply added a strip of the Plaid Tidings paper and another greeting. The oval pieces are cut with the Layering Ovals Dies. The gems are from the Holiday Rhinestones. I played around with the card a bit by changing out elements.

I thought that now would be a great time to say thanks a dedicated teacher and that this card would be perfect for that job! I added a 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer of Early Espresso and also a strip of some glittery ribbon that is going to be available in the January – June mini catalog. I added the Rhinestone to the word in the greeting but I’m not sure that I like it. My idea was that teachers are diamonds. What do you think? Let me know which version you like best.

Hi Robyn! Cute treat box and card. That moose is adorable and so festive too! Thanks for playing along at the Card Concept.
