Escape From The Roost

Escape from the Roost

I just had to have some fun with the Hey, Chick and Hey Birthday Chick Bundles! You just know that an old hen who calls her stamping business The Roost is going to have fun with some chicken stamps! These girls have broken free of the cage and are out to have some fun in the corn patch. To create the fence, it took 2 pieces of the wire die cuts. When I was putting them together I just snipped away enough for the girls to squeeze through, hehehe. I used both of the images of the ‘plump’ girl, one from each stamp set and colored them the same. I used Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight for the bodies, Cherry Cobbler for the combs and waddle and Pumpkin Pie for the beaks. (Stampin’ Blend Markers)

Chicks

I started playing with the chicks by stamping each of the girls from both sets onto a piece of Basic White and coloring them with Stampin’ Blends. I used the same color combos for the matching chickens. I’ll be sharing the other cards created with these chicks later this week.

The Coop – Close Up

I cut the coop die from Soft Suede card stock. The detail is amazing on this die, but it didn’t pop out the way that I wanted it to so I used a Blending Brush and some Soft Suede ink and rubbed the ink over the coop to bring out the details. The Chick Dies are worth buying just for this coop and corn stalk! They are awesome! If you look closely at the chicken wire below the coop, you can see where the two pieces overlap just below the period in RobynsRoost.blog.

Corn Stalk Close Up

I LOVE this corn stalk! Maybe having grown corn on our farm, I’m a bit partial to it but I’m thinking that the Darling Donkeys stamp set is going to get combined with this stalk someday. On today’s card of course the 2 plump hens are out to snack on the corn. The stalk is one die and then there 4 corn cob dies and 4 husk dies. Now most corn stalks only get 2 ears, but these are super corn and have 4. That’s why the girls had to break out to taste them.

Escape from The Roost

Both greetings are stamped with Soft Suede ink. I die cut the sign first and then stamped it but either way would work. The sign is popped up with dimensionals. I haven’t put anything in the inside yet on this card. I’m not sure if I will use it for a girlfriend’s birthday or to send to someone who just needs a laugh.

The girls (Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick) will be available until June 30, but remember Sale-a-bration ends February 28. Get the girls plus maybe some Darling Donkeys to share the corn.
