Darling Donkeys Valentine Card

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I’m sitting at my table in my camper, enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to the mourning doves cooing in the tree beside me. Can’t get much better than this! I’ve been up stamping for a couple of hours enjoying the quiet. I made a Valentine card for my husband, nothing like waiting until the last minute, right? He is the sweetest guy, sometimes I wonder why he puts up with me.

Darling Donkeys Valentine

I decided to use the Darling Donkeys Sale-a-bration set as the starting point for my Valentine. The card might not be very masculine but I wanted lots of pink hearts! I actually toned down the hearts from what I was first envisioning, and ended up only using two of the half dozen that I made. Of course, I had them all stamped and cut out before I decided not to use them. I couldn’t find my heart punches that match the Meant To Be stamp set, I either left them home or have them tucked somewhere in the camper, Gary was sleeping and I didn’t want to wake him up. At least hearts are pretty easy to cut out, lol. The hearts are stamped on some of the Peony Garden DSP with Real Red ink and Petal Pink.

The donkeys are colored with Gray Granite and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. Actually, the only place I used the Crumb Cake was around the noses, I ran a line of the light Crumb Cake around the edge. The donkey bodies are all done with the light Gray Granite, I just went around the edges a second time to get them darker. The rose is Real Red and the stem is Old Olive. The donkeys are popped up with dimensionals.

The Peony Garden DSP floral layer is cut with a die from the Sweetly Stitched set. I love the scallops and stitching. It is the largest die in the set. The layer is popped up with dimensionals. I wanted to add another layer behind the Peony Garden DSP but finally ended up using the Stitched with Whimsy Die instead. I am LOVING these Stitched with Whimsy Dies! They don’t cut out a shape but they add this whimsical stitched border. AWESOME.

I sprinkled on some of the Pastel Pearls from the Hydrangea Suite. I know, not real masculine, but this card is meant to be a bit mushy, lol.
