The Gilded Leafing is a bit messy to work with but gives an elegant look which is a bit different than gold embossing. It works great for 2-step stamp sets., where the highlight stamp can be used with the Gilded Leafing.
The Art Gallery stamp set was created with the Gilded Leafing in mind so is the perfect set to use for gilding. This card features some retiring products as well as some new products from the upcoming 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, and some products from the January to June Mini Catalog.
The inks used for the flower and greeting are all from the new in-color selection. Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. The matte layer is a 3″ x 4 3/4″ piece of the Fresh Freesia card stock. The ribbon is the retiring Purple Posy 2019-2021 in-color ribbon. The Forever Greenery Designer Paper is one of my all time favorites, but is retiring at the end of the month.
Tips for working with Gilded Leafing:
Stamping with VersaMark, add the Heat & Stick Powder – during heat setting be careful to not overheat the Heat & Stick Powder or it will lose it’s stickiness
Pick up pieces of the gilding and pat them onto the Heat & Stick, cover completely with the gilding and be sure to pat the gilding tight to the adhesive
Use your finger to rub off the excess gilding
Brush the excess gilding back into the container.
For the inside of the card, I chose a greeting from the retiring So Sentimental stamp set. The So Sentimental stamp set is another favorite of mine that is retiring. I know that I will continue to reach for this set for inside verses.
This card was one of the cards from my April Creative Cards Class and is an example of the type of Technique cards that we do at this class. I know that many people don’t like messy stuff in their house so I like to give them an opportunity to try the messy stuff here at my house. The Gilded Leafing is not as bad as glitter but you may find yourself sparkling for a few hours after using, lol. It’s a fun medium to try for a little different effect and I would encourage you to give it a try.
