Time to share some of awesome cards that I have gotten in card swaps (trading with friends). Swaps are a great way to learn about new techniques, see new layouts, and perhaps fall in love with a stamp set that had been overlooked.
Today, I decided to pull out some cards that showcased birds. I love bird watching, but do it in a very amateur way. I don’t keep track of the birds that I see, or even know the names of them, I just enjoy sharing my day with them. Six years ago we had a tornado hit our farm and the birds disappeared. Finally, this year they seem to be back in full force. I always hoped that they moved on to a better home and weren’t all killed in the storm. I really never found any bodies so I’m thinking they ended up somewhere that still had shelter for them. I sure am happy they are back!

I love the way that Nichole, grounded the tree, with the Crumb Cake paper and then put the Beauty of the Earth Designer Paper on the upper portion of the card. The tree and birds are created with the Beautiful Trees Dies. I can almost hear the birds singing!

Even though the Etched in Nature stamp set was discontinued due to some issues with a couple of the stamps in the set, I just had to share this gorgeous bird with you. Karla did such an awesome job on the coloring that I thought someone might like to use the card to inspire them to color a different bird image. I also like the way that Karla mounted the bird onto another larger circle of white card stock. The Bark Embossing Folder behind the bird and the Beauty of the Earth Designer Paper in the background combine for such a natural look. Even the Metallic Mesh Ribbon is reminiscent of a spider web with dew sparkling on it.
