Brave Viking Valentine

Do you have your Valentine’s cards made yet? Because I’m in Florida and my grandchildren are all in Minnesota I’m getting down to the wire to get them in the mail. Today’s card is the one that I made for my grandson Wyatt. He’s a rough and tumble little guy so this Viking seemed fitting.

Because we’re Minnesotans, I just had to go with a purple and gold color scheme, SKOL Vikings! When I stamped the Viking image onto the cardstock, I stamped a second image onto a post it note. I trimmed the post it note image and stuck it on top of the Viking image, so that when I stamped over him the ship it would appear to be behind the Viking.

I used Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Markers to color the images. I love the vivid colors that can be achieved with the Stampin’ Blends. Then I die cut the image with one of the Layering Circle Dies and created a mat with a larger Gorgeous Grape scalloped circle from the same Layering Circle Dies set.

I’ve layered the image onto a silken sail of Simply Marbleous designer paper from the SALE-a-bration catalog. The rich color blended well with my color theme. The greeting is stamped directly onto the patterned paper with Gorgeous Grape ink. You can get a pack of the Simply Marbleous Designer Paper for Free with a $50 purchase during SALE-a-bration which last through February.

Finally, I’ll leave you with this quote from one of my favorite poets. It is so true!
