Heron Habitat

Today’s card was inspired by the gorgeous moon that I saw last night on my drive home from shopping in Hutchinson. It was huge and the sky was going from light blue to nighttime dark.

I just received a new Stampin’ Up! order and had the Deckle Dies and Heron Habitat products to play with. I’ve always loved deckle edged photos and scissors and I love this new set of dies. This is the larges die in a set of 8 and it is perfect for a card front with a layer behind.

The moon was created with the circle stamp from the Watercolor Shapes stamp set. It was inked with Sahara Sand, stamped off and then stamped onto the Very Vanilla Deckle cut layer. Starry Sky ink was added around the moon and over the edges with a Blending Brush. The bottom part has Tahitian Tide ink added with a Blending Brush. The heron is die cut with the matching die from the Heron Die set and popped up with dimensionals.

The cattails were inked with Petal Pink and then Soft Suede and Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Write Markers were used to achieve the multiple colors. The water was inked with the Tahitian Tide ink pad and then the grass was colored with the Parakeet Party marker. I also added more shadows on the heron with a Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker over Smoky Slate ink.

Remember to check out the view of the moon when you happen to be outside in the evening and take a moment to enjoy!
