Pretty Birds Standing Box Card

I don’t know how many times, as a kid, I said ‘pretty bird’ to my parakeet always hoping that he would answer me back. No luck, he only ever chirped at me. I recently did a demonstration during an event with a demonstrator group, using the Pretty Birds stamp set and dies. I thought that the Standing Box Card Technique worked well with the Pretty Birds set.

I just love the bright new In Colors! This bird is done in Parakeet Party (fitting right?) and Granny Apple Green. There are 3 large parakeet images in this stamp set and this one has 2 different stamps to fill in the color, allowing a two tone bird.

For the details on the bird, beak and feet, use Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Basic Gray for the feet and above the beak and Daffodil Delight for the beak.

TIP: Keep a matching colored marker handy when stamping the color fill images and swipe any white areas with the marker. Usually they line up fine but occasionally there is a bit of white still showing. Can you see where I added marker on this bird image?

I love the bright colors on the Butterfly Kisses Designer Series Paper that I used on this card. The whole paper stack is just so cheerful!

The Pretty Bird stamp set doesn’t have any greetings with it. For this card I used greetings from the Sweet Songbirds and Peaceful Deer sets.

If you’re loving these bright new In Colors as much as I am, and you aren’t already a demonstrator, now is the time to purchase a Starter Kit! You have until May 31 to get an extra $66 of In Color product with purchase of a Starter Kit. Check it out Now. Add the Pretty Birds stamp set and the Butterfly Kisses DSP to your Starter Kit order and create this card!
