Embossed Tulip Fields Sympathy Card

As I’m working my way across the DOstamperSTARS ConnectTen Challenge board, I’ve come to the square that says, Heat Embossing. I’ve done lots of heat embossing over the years but I usually just use one color of embossing powder. For this card, I used both Gold and Silver Embossing Powder and then backed it with a piece of the Texture Chic Specialty Designer Paper which also has shots of gold foil.

To keep the embossing powders from becoming mixed, I did the silver first, cleaned up, then did the gold next. I use cheap paper plates to catch the spills then scrunch them into a point to pour the excess powder back into the jar. I quick tap against the trash can ensures that all the powder is off the plate before starting the next color.

I wasn’t sure how silver tulips would look, but I like it. I makes me think of sunset, right before it gets really dark when everything turns shadowy. My tulips out in the gardens are almost all done blooming. Gosh, they never last long enough, do they? Time to cut them down and plant summer flowers. For the greeting, I decided to use the Through It Together stamp set. This has become one of my go to greeting sets. It has 21 greetings geared to support and encourage.

Paper Dimensions:

  • Soft Succulent Card Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4
  • Texture Chic DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Basic White 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
  • Soft Succulent 5/8″ x 3 1/2″
  • Texture Chic DSP 3/4″ x 4″
  • Basic White 3 3/4″ x 5″ Inside liner

The Tulips are created with two stamps, but the horizon line stamp was totally covered by my greeting, lol. The rows of tulips that are visible were all created with the same stamp. It was a little harder than usual to see the clear VeraMark ink to keep the rows straight. Luckily, I don’t have to drive a tractor down my rows! There was a reason why I was never allowed to drive the planter when we farmed.

Luckily, I’m feeling better this afternoon so I can go watch by grandson Zen’s cross over Cub Scout ceremony. I remember it was a pretty big deal to my boys at that age. Logs and ropes and climbing were involved.

Hope you enjoyed the card and be sure to pick up a pack of the metallics embossing powders and give embossing with multiple colors a try.
