Memorial Weekend Recap

I guess it was a typical Memorial Weekend. Some gorgeous weather, some storms, some things went as planned, some better, some not at all. My husband and I headed off to the north shore on Thursday to see the Split Rock Lighthouse being lit. It was a fun, low key event. They had food and beverages for sale, the grounds were all open and free of charge. There were lawn games and two different musicians playing. It was a nice sized crowd and a cool but nice evening. The fire pits were a nice spot to hang out and warm up. It was one of those things on my bucket list. Not a high priority but something that I always wanted to do.

I loved the big fire pits!

Friday morning before we headed home. I sat by Lake Superior near our campsite and enjoyed the view of a ship coming into the harbor at Two Harbors. I got carried away and walked all the way to the Two Harbor Lighthouse.

We headed up to our lake cabin in Dassel for the rest of the weekend. Friday and Saturday were nice. We had some company on Sunday, it was windy and a bit cool. Monday was supposed to be our big get together but it rained and was nasty so the only ones who came were our son’s Ethan and Nick and family. It was the ‘didn’t work as planned’ part of the weekend. I put the chops in the freezer and I’m getting sick of potato salad!

Our beagle Max is 10 years old and wonders why on earth we got the new puppy! Doesn’t this picture look like he’s saying, ‘really, mom, does she have to chew on my ears?’

Sweetheart our new 7 month old pup is a Golden Retriever but seemed to be afraid to get her feet wet. She was fascinated by the waves. We got some scary news from the vet on Thursday about her. She was supposed to get spayed but her blood work was off. They sent samples off to a lab to get tested. We’re praying that it isn’t anything too serious because we’ve all fallen in love with the crazy red rocket dog, lol. She is a typical puppy, naughty and adorable all in the span of 10 minutes, but never a dull moment.
