The theme for today’s DOswts389 Blog Hop is Summertime Inspiration. Wow, I could make dozens of cards, with no two having the same focus! What do you like most about summer? My list includes camping, camp fires, hiking, gardening, laying on my floatie at the lake, laying on my hammock in the shade (notice I like laying, hehehe), playing with my pets, going to fairs…

So, I finally settled on a hiking focus. I absolutely love hiking in the woods. I grew up in the woods of northern Minnesota and I sometimes long for the sounds and smells of those woods. I decided to make a very simple card, because hiking in the woods is a very down to earth pasttime.

Paper Dimensions

• Basic White Thick Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
• Evening Evergreen 5 1/4″ x 4″
• Crumb Cake 5″ x 3 3/4″
• Basic White 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″

The matting layers are placed kitty wampus because hiking trails aren’t straight either and it gives the card a more woodsy feel.

The background color is added with Stampin’ Blend Markers using a broad swishing motion with the brush tip. From bottom to top the colors are:

• Light Evening Evergreen
• Dark Soft Succulent
• Light Soft Succulent
• Dark Pool Party
• Light Pool Party

The trees and greeting are stamped using Evening Evergreen ink.
