Happy Wednesday! It finally feels like fall here in Minnesota. Yesterday it was in the 90’s today 60’s. I had transplanted some little trees this past weekend and it looks like the poor things died of heat stroke yesterday. We’ll see if they come back to life next spring, fingers crossed. I swore that I was not going to do any canning this year, but found myself dragging the pressure canner out this morning and canning a dozen jars of tomato juice for my husband. Now I’m taking a break (at least I get to sit down) and doing my blog post.
After this I get to prep my bedroom for painting. I got it all emptied out yesterday, gee, how much stuff can two people put in a 12′ x 12′ bedroom! I’m telling myself that I need to go through EVERYTHING before I put it back in the room. I haven’t painted anything in my house for 15-20 years. My friend Kathy, tells me that sponge painting went out of style a LONG time ago. I’m not so much about being in style, but I would like to cover up the dings and dents and cat claw marks, lol.
Today’s card inspiration came from the monthly STARS challenge and the theme was Granny Apple Green. It started with the gorgeous Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper. I actually ended up making two very different cards because the paper inspired me to go a couple directions.

I’ve been wanting to use this design of the Lovely Layers Vellum to spotlight some pretty flowers for a while, and today is the day. The Vellum is 3 3/4″ x 5″ so I cut the designer series paper to the same size and adhered them together around the edges. Adhesive will show through the vellum so I covered the adhesive with a frame of Granny Apple Green which is 4″ x 5 1/4″ and has a Deckled Rectangle Die cut from the center. The frame is popped up using Foam Strips.

The greeting is from the Soft Seedlings stamp set, stamped on Granny Apple Green with Merry Merlot ink. I like to take my ink and cardstock colors from the designer series paper that I’m working with. Regrettably, there isn’t a die to cut out this word so it was fussy cut. The six Champagne Rhinestones are divided into two groupings.

For the inside of the card, a 1″ x 5 1/4″ strip of the Awash in Beauty DSP was added to the edge of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White liner.
Stop back tomorrow to see where I went with my second Awash in Beauty/Granny Apple Green card.
