Sympathy Card with Tree Silhouette

The layout for today’s card comes from the #DOswts402 Challenge which is put on by Dawn Olchefske a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from Minnesota. Twice a month she challenges her team of demonstrators with a theme or sketch. I find it a great inspiration for making cards. If you enjoy challenges there are several different ones out there to participate in.

I needed a sympathy card and didn’t have any with me so thought that this layout would work well. I love the tree from the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set. The friend whose husband died is a nature lover so I thought that this card would be fitting for her. The greeting is from the Sending Support stamp set which is Free during Sale-a-bration with a $50. I absolutely LOVE this set! The greeting is adhered off center onto a strip of evening evergreen cardstock and then both pieces are popped up with dimensionals. The inside greetings are also from the Sending Support stamp set and are two of my favorites. One line is ‘somedays are harder than others’ and the next line is ‘hope today is one of the easier ones’.

At first I tied a bow and adhered it under the greeting but it was too thick, so I simply looped the ribbon, adhering it with glue dots and then put it back under the greeting. I know that this simple card isn’t going to make things easier for my friend but I hope that she know that we are thinking about her and praying that she gets through this tough time.
